geekpub meetups now on meetup.com/geekpub

Dear geeks and friends of geek, as you may already know, geekpub is now on meetup.com for a few weeks and it’s been so successful that we will use meetup.com for the organisation of all geekpub meetups. We even have our own domain: http://geekpub.me/

Thus this blog will only be used for the live coverage of other events that may be of interest and special content that does not go with the spirit of meetups.

If you haven’t registered or joined on meetup.com, why not do so now?

geekpub night #3 is locked and loaded!

After some recent geekpub specials honoring events such as the Eurogamer Expo, the Symbian Expo and the iPhone Tech Talks over the past weeks, it is finally time for a regular good old (can we say that already?) geekpub night.

This time, Thursday 26 November from 6.30pm, we’re drinking and talking tech/gadget/games at the Zebrano Bar London, on 14 Ganton Street, off Carnaby Street. Hub Culture Pavilion members get 20% off their drinks. Don’t forget to claim your members card from a Valet at the Online Pavilion.

Gadgetry Goodness!
This time we’ve got some neat little goodies for you.

Raffle (mind you it’s as always free to come and join us! BuyYorOwnDrink tho. )
It’s one quid to enter, entry from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. We’ll do a random draw at 9.00pm.

1. Win first prize in our raffle and you can get your hands on a LACIE iamakey 4GB USB drive plus an invite to Google Wave.
2. Second prize is an invite to Google Voice and one to Google Wave.
3. Third prize is an invite to Google Wave.

The Eurogamer Expo in London opened doors today and will also be open tomorrow. The event is sold out but we’re giving away one ticket to the expo today (Friday). All you have to do is follow @geekpub on twitter and RT the giveaway message from just a little while ago before 3pm, that’s when we’ll do the random draw.

From around that time we’re also starting the live coverage via twitter. If you can’t go to the event and wish to follow what’s going on, follow @geekpub for the live scoop. We’re also continuing the live coverage tomorrow throughout the day.

Symbian Expo geekpub special!

After a nice long summer break we’re back with a special. In case you haven’t heard this week are two nice events in London. Tuesday and Wednesday, the 2009 Symbian Exchange & Exposition at London’s Earls Court center, free and easy to register for. Friday and Saturday, the 2009 Eurogamer Expo which is sold out.

After the day at the Symbian Expo we will wind down at a local pub. For prelim event details please check the event page. The meetup location will be share via twitter, please follow @geekpub to get the update tomorrow.

as most of the rest of the world in these lands geekpub is on holidays during August.

sadly the Imbiss venue had to close down shop. i will keep mourning that loss. stiegl is my favourite beer and they had the best kaesekrainer in the world outside of Austria, and sometimes even including some of my favourite sausage stands in vienna. anyway …

now having looked for a different venue I’m happy to announce geekpub night #2 for wednesday 22 july at coach and horses on greek street, in the middle of london’s soho.

what i miss the most at work is being able to talk to people about the stuff that interests me, technology and gadgets.

when i see my friends i barely finish a sentence and all of a sudden the evening is over, time goes by so quickly.

any similarity? or do you get a chance to talk about tech and gadgets but still can’t get enough?

fear not! geek pub nights could just be what we need.
